Forgive but don't forget"????

  Recently an acquaintance of mine asked me if I knew where someone he had gone to school with lived now. I had no idea, He said that he had treated this classmate terribly back in grade school and would like to make amends. I too have had these pangs of guilt about Bullying a fellow when I was younger, the chance to mention to him my feelings arose one day  so I said " Glenn I did some pretty bad things to you when we were in school and I regret them a lot". he paused and  his reaction wasn't what I expected, I felt as if he had been thinking of those times just then , he looked me in the eye " I would go home at night and ask my mom Why does Blackjack treat me like that?, my Mom would say Oh Glenn he just had a bad day!".... What a forgiving attitude, now I can tell you with certainty Glenn never forgot, but he did forgive. There is the RUB, most of us can forgive fairly easily, but to  Forget , well not easy. You hear someone is trashing you behind your back and you think Why I Oughta, but You let it go and in time you forgive , but do you Forget?... Time is the great healer of feelings, and you can certainly learn to trust people who have hurt you but to truly Forget......They it takes a truly Big Man to Forgive , My thoughts , It takes a. Much bigger man to Forget!
