As your son, born in the 1970's, I find your "buck theory" particularly troubling. In fact, I just threw up a little bit. In regard to your polling data, I am happy to weigh in. However, some clarification is necessary. Are we talking about personal preference or critical favorites? My answers are personal in nature. 1) Rolling Stones--I still get fired up whenever I hear many of Richards' rifts; 2) Loved it...the movie and the time of the year that it represents (holiday season). It was a great movie for its time, and it still holds up surprisingly well; 3) Lovelace vs. Chambers--Why not both? This question reminds me of Friday nights in college where Brad Kammerzell, Tim McHugh, and I would watch scrambled Skin-emax to catch an occasional boob... during which, I would get drunk. Good times. Sorry Brad and Tim, if you're reading this.
ReplyDeleteRita Laird here. Even though the Rolling Stones were the rock and roll band of the century, I'm going with the Beatles. There would have been no British Invasion ( hence no Stones) without the Beatles. They radically changed the music industry forever, and, oh yeah, their music wasn't bad. Once it fell apart though, it fell apart. I mean find 10 people who loved Paul McCartney and Wings.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Wizard of Oz, I' m in the big time minority, but I always hated it. 1939 was quite the year in Hollywood, but I love, love, love Gone With the Wind
